Astrolabe (in development)
Live-action bilingual family adventure series, with virtual reality, augmented reality and video game immersive components for download from the series web site.
In each episode, four pre-teens use Samuel de Champlain's Astrolabe to travel to a different time and place in Canadian history. In the course of figuring out how to return to their own time, the kids─who come from different backgrounds─discover something about our history, themselves and each other.
Champlain's Astrolabe is a navigational device that the famous explorer lost while mapping the Ottawa River not far from Canada's present-day capital over 400 years ago. The Astrolabe resurfaced in 1867, the year of Confederation, and was sold to a US collector. It was repatriated to Canada's Museum of History in 1967, our Centennial Year. It has had its own interesting journey through time and has become a symbol of Canada's history and spirit of exploration.
